When Should You Book Your Maternity Photoshoot (And Why it Matters!)

Let’s be honest, even if your pregnancy has been smooth and "easy," it still takes a huge toll on your body. You feel tired, swollen, and by the final stretch, you're pretty much ready to evict the tiny human who’s been living rent-free inside you!

Mama, I get it—I’ve been there, not once, but twice! That’s exactly why I always recommend booking your maternity session in advance and scheduling it between 28 and 35 weeks of pregnancy. We’ll be touring your house and taking photos in different rooms, so you’ll be sitting, laying down, getting up and even dancing. Or we’ll be taking a nice walk around a park, the beach or a flower field. So I want you to be comfortable and ready for the action!

Remember that first pregnancies take longer to “pop”, so if it is your first baby, you may want to consider booking the photoshoot closer to the 35 weeks. Yet, if it is your second or third pregnancy, maybe closer to the 28 to 30 weeks your belly will be big and beautiful enough to shine in the photos!

Of course, every woman and pregnancy is different, so the exact timing depends on how you're feeling. But as a general rule of thumb, this window ensures your baby bump is beautifully noticeable while you still have enough energy to enjoy the session. It is my goal that you have fun, feel happy, and—most importantly—look back on these photos with love and fond memories.
