Why Printing Your Photos Matters (& the Ways You Can Do It)
Because your photos shouldn’t stay collecting digital dust in your computer, forever!
I’m sure you have a lot of photo albums from your childhood, or at least a few. Back in the analog days, when you had to develop your film just to see your photos for the first time, people didn’t really have a choice but to showcase them around the house. And do you remember the excitement when you would open that envelop and see the photos for the first time? it was like a Christmas morning! My parents’ home is still filled with frames, wall prints, and albums. Walking in feels like stepping into a beautiful little museum of our past. And every time I go there, I can’t help but drift back in time and daydream.
Nowadays, though, it’s a little different. Whether you hire a professional photographer to capture your family’s unique moments, or you play photographer yourself with your phone, most of the time those photos end up sitting on our computers or phones 🥲. I get it, life is hectic, and it does take time to organize, choose, and send your favourites to print.
But what a difference it makes when we do print them. When you can hold your photos, flip through them, and yes, even smell them (is that weird, or am I the only one who does that? 😅). Every time we see those prints, we’re reminded of the most beautiful moments we’ve lived, and the deepest love we’ve shared.
So here are a few of my favourite ways to bring your photos to life:
1. Albums. Your Family Storybook
My absolute favourite 🤩 A photo album is more than just a collection of photos, it’s a book of your family’s story. Imagine getting cozy on the couch with your kids, flipping through the pages, and reliving those moments over and over again. Albums are timeless. They’re treasures to be passed down, looked at often, and loved for years.
2. Large Wall Art. The Everyday Reminder
There’s something powerful about a photo printed big. Walking past a framed family portrait in your hallway or living room every day, it’s like a little burst of joy each time. Large prints also make your house feel personal and full of life, like your very own art gallery (but with your favourite people as the stars!)
3. Small Prints. The Little Joys
Sometimes it’s the smaller things that make the biggest impact. A print on the fridge that makes you smile while making coffee, one on your desk that keeps you going during the workday, or a few tucked into frames on a bookshelf. They’re also perfect for gifts, grandparents especially love these little treasures they can keep close.
4. Calendars. A Year of Happiness
Imagine starting every month with a new photo of your family. Calendars are such a simple, practical way to keep your images alive throughout the year. Plus, they make amazing gifts for relatives, your kids as the main characters of every season? Take my money and give me two, please!
5. Holiday Cards. Share the Love
Your photos are meant to be shared. Holiday cards, thank-you notes, or even birth announcements give your loved ones a chance to celebrate your memories with you. They’re heartfelt, personal, and a lot more meaningful than a generic card from the store.
Where Can You Print Your Photos?
There are so many great options nowadays, some that I really like are for albums MixBook, Miller’s or PhotoBook Canada, to print your photos I love Parabo Press which makes this cute like card-like prints, VistaPrint, Royal Photo and L’atelier Photo by Gosselin Photo have an incredible array of options for you to print your photos like cards, mugs, wall prints, etc. And another a little more affordable option is Jean Coutu Photo, they offer a good array of printing options and with good quality.
A quick rule of thumb?, if you want really long lasting photos you should look for a print shop that offers archive-quality photographic paper, yes it is a bit more expensive but it is very worth it, and you won’t have to print them again in the future because they lost their quality.
Your photos deserve to be more than files on a screen.
Every time you add a personal touch to your house, you turn it into a home. That beautiful sofa you wanted for so long, the mirror where you check yourself on your way out every single day and yes, the photos you showcase, makes your home personal and it reminds you of the love you share with your favourite people!!! They’re little pieces of your life, your love, and your story. Printing them means surrounding yourself with those feelings every single day, whether it’s through a statement piece on your wall, a cozy album you flip through, or a card that brings a smile to someone else’s face. You can print some of these examples directly in your Store (with GTA Imaging located in Toronto), which you’ll find inside your private gallery once I deliver your magical photos. And they will be delivered directly to your doorstep. Easy peasy!
After all, memories are meant to be lived with, not just stored away ♥️
